Toronto Public Health has ordered a high school in the West to move to remote learning entirely due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Public Health Agency says this is the first full semester of the school year.
The agency did not say how many diagnoses were confirmed at Silverthorne Collegiate Institute, but said that new cases were reported over the weekend and there may have been exposures in “multigrade events.”
The latest regional data, last updated Friday morning, shows three students have contracted the virus.
Toronto Public Health is urging all staff and students at the school to get tested for COVID-19, and notes that those who haven’t yet been vaccinated against the virus get theirs.
TPH says that as of Friday, there were 21 active outbreaks in the city’s schools, and 30 investigations into potential outbreaks.
